Effect of Post-Harvest Calcium Chloride Treatment on Quality and Shelf Life of Apple (<i>Malus domestica</i>)

چکیده

In Ethiopia, apple production is estimated to be about 50 metric tons collected from 35,000 small fruit producers annually. But lack of appropriate post-harvest care has been influencing the quality and shelf life apple. view this, current study was initiated with objective investigating effect calcium treatment on fresh fruit. The experiment laid out in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) four level treatments three replications. levels involved were concentrations chloride (Control (0%), 1%, 2%, 3%). Data such as firmness, juice yield, pH value, weight loss, Unmarketable (damaged) marketable (undamaged) measured at 1,5,10 15 days life. Collected data subjected analysis variance (ANOVA), SAS version 9.4. Non-significant difference observed pH, while a significant all remaining studied parameters during storage days. results showed that fruits treated 3% CaCl2 found most acceptable. general, maximum TA, TSS marketability reduced damage loss recorded by postharvest concentration CaCl2. final result this research shown can enhance Therefore, it recommended farmers other grower use till repeated over years locations.
